About Word to PDF
Turn a Word document into a PDF. The converter reads your .docx, then lays out its headings, text, lists, tables and images on fresh A4 pages, all in your browser. It does not reproduce fonts or exact spacing, so check the result before you send it.
Why convert with Word to PDF instead of desktop software?
- Make a PDF from a .docx without Word or an account.
- No sign-up and no watermark on the PDF.
- Your document is read in the browser, so a contract or CV is never uploaded.
- The PDF contains real text, not a picture of the page, so it stays selectable and searchable.

Where this comes up
You wrote a one-page CV in Word on a borrowed laptop and the job portal only takes PDFs. Drop the .docx, convert and upload. If your CV uses a special font, the PDF uses a standard one instead, so check how it looks.
How the conversion actually works
mammoth reads the .docx in this tab and converts its structure to HTML, with images embedded. The tool turns that into headings, paragraphs, list items, tables and images, and pdf-lib draws them onto A4 pages with the standard Helvetica fonts, breaking lines and pages itself. Nothing is sent anywhere. Because the layout is rebuilt rather than copied, it will not match the page breaks in Word exactly.
What to know before you convert
- Only .docx is supported. Save older .doc files as .docx in Word first.
- Fonts are replaced by Helvetica. Headers, footers, text boxes, columns and exact spacing are not reproduced.
- Characters outside the Western European range, such as Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic, cannot be drawn and show as a question mark.
- Only PNG and JPEG images are included. Other image types are skipped.
Word to PDF compared to uploading tools
iLovePDF, Smallpdf and PDF24 all offer this kind of job, and the online ones upload your file to their servers to do it. Here the work happens in this tab instead.
