About Excel to PDF
Turn a spreadsheet into a PDF. The converter reads your .xlsx or .csv, then prints each sheet as a table on A4 pages, switching to landscape or continuing columns on later pages when a sheet is wide. It runs in your browser and does not reproduce Excel formatting, so check the result before you send it.
Why convert with Excel to PDF instead of desktop software?
- Make a PDF from a spreadsheet without Excel or an account.
- No sign-up and no watermark on the PDF.
- Your spreadsheet is read in the browser, so budgets and payroll files are never uploaded.
- The PDF contains real text, so it stays selectable and searchable.

Where this comes up
You need to send a price list kept in Excel to a customer who wants a PDF. Drop the .xlsx, convert, and attach the result. If the sheet uses colors or a chart, the PDF shows only the table, so check how it looks first.
How the conversion actually works
The tool unzips the .xlsx in this tab and reads each visible sheet, using the number, date and percentage formats saved in the file so cells read the way Excel shows them. pdf-lib then draws the cells as a table on A4 pages with the standard Helvetica fonts, wrapping long text, repeating a text header row and numbering the pages. Nothing is sent anywhere. Because the pages are rebuilt rather than copied from Excel, they will not match Excel's own print layout.
What to know before you convert
- Only .xlsx and .csv are supported. Save older .xls files as .xlsx in Excel first.
- Charts, images, colors, fonts, merged cells and exact column widths are not reproduced. Formulas show the last result saved in the file.
- Hidden sheets, rows and columns are left out.
- Characters outside the Western European range, such as Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic, cannot be drawn and show as a question mark.
Excel to PDF compared to uploading tools
iLovePDF, Smallpdf and PDF24 all offer this kind of job, and the online ones upload your file to their servers to do it. Here the work happens in this tab instead.
