How to delete pdf pages in your browser

    Drop the PDF

    Drop one PDF onto the drop area or browse for it. The tool takes a single file, and page thumbnails begin rendering as soon as it loads.

    Tap pages to remove

    Click every thumbnail you want gone. A selected page gets a Delete badge, and the counter above the grid tracks how many are marked. Click a page again to unmark it.

    Delete them

    Press the red button, which reads "Delete 3 Pages" once three are selected. A processing overlay appears while the document is rewritten.

A real use case

A landlord scans a tenancy pack as one file: the agreement, two blank pages where the scanner fed a reverse side, and a duplicate inventory sheet. They click those three thumbnails, download the trimmed copy for the letting agent, and the original scan stays in their folder.

Why edit with Delete Pages in your browser?

  • Thumbnails show how each page actually looks, so a near-blank scan or a repeated page is judged by eye instead of by a page number you might have miscounted.
  • The counter and the button label update with every click, which makes it hard to delete a different number of pages than you intended.
  • Pages you keep are not redrawn. They are removed from the loaded document and the rest is written back out, so text stays text and images keep their resolution.
  • There is no account and no page cap in the code, so a long report and a two-page form are handled alike.

What this changes in your file

The tool reads your file into memory in this tab, renders page previews, loads the document with pdf-lib, removes the marked pages, and saves the rest as a download. No request carries your file anywhere. To check, open the Network tab before dropping the PDF: no upload appears while previews render or when you press delete. Closing the tab discards what is held in memory.

Limits and edge cases

  • At least one page must remain. Marking every page and pressing the button shows an error instead of producing an empty document.
  • A password-protected or corrupted PDF fails at the preview stage with a message that it may be encrypted or damaged, so unlock it first.
  • Removing pages does not update page numbers printed on the remaining pages, a table of contents, or bookmarks pointing at deleted pages. Those are content of the original file.
  • If the removed pages held sensitive material, treat this as a layout edit and not as a guaranteed scrub of the file.
  • Very long documents depend on your device memory, since a preview is rendered for every page up front.
  • The download is a rewritten file, and its size may not shrink in proportion to the pages removed. pdf-lib drops the page from the page tree and leaves the old content objects in the file: removing two pages from a four-page text PDF changed the size by only a few bytes. Compress it afterwards if size matters.

Check these five things before you delete pages from a PDF

  1. Zoom into near-blank thumbnails. A page that looks empty may carry a faint stamp, a footer or a signature line. If the preview is too small to judge, open the original first.
  2. Note which pages are printed with numbers. Deleting from the middle leaves a gap such as 4, 5, 8, 9. If that matters, run Add Page Numbers on the trimmed copy, keeping in mind that the old printed numbers stay on the pages.
  3. Decide whether deleting or keeping is shorter. If you want three pages out of sixty, marking the three you need and using Extract PDF Pages takes far fewer clicks than marking fifty-seven.
  4. Treat a deleted page as removed layout, not hidden content. If you are trying to keep a figure or name out of a shared file, use Redact PDF on pages that stay, and read how to judge whether an online PDF tool is safe before sharing anything sensitive.
  5. Keep the original. The output is a separate download named with -edited.pdf, but there is no in-tool undo after that point. Store the source until the recipient confirms the trimmed version is right.

Frequently asked questions

Can I undo a deletion?+
Before you press the button, yes: click a marked thumbnail again to unmark it. After the download, the change is in the new file only. Your original stays where it was, so you can reopen it and start over.
Is there a page limit?+
The code enforces no cap on pages or file size. The practical limit is your device's memory, because previews for all pages are generated in the tab before you can select anything.
Can I delete pages from a PDF on my iPhone?+
Yes. The tool runs in the mobile browser, so you tap thumbnails to select them and press the button. The result downloads through the browser, and no app is needed.
Why can't I delete all the pages?+
A PDF with zero pages is not a usable document, so the tool blocks that and asks you to keep at least one. If you want to discard almost everything, it is easier to keep the pages you need with an extraction tool.
Does deleting a page change the quality of the others?+
No. Kept pages are not rasterized or recompressed by this tool. The pages are left in the document as they were, so vector text remains selectable and embedded images stay at their existing resolution.
Will the page numbers fix themselves after I delete pages?+
No. A number printed on a page is part of that page's content, so the sequence will have gaps if you remove pages from the middle. Add new numbers afterwards if the document needs a clean sequence.
